 You should have all gotten a syllabus in class.
Review of the class policies and procedures.
Monday - An introduction to close reading and annotating.
 - Close reading of "Shoulders" by Nels Gould.
HOMEWORK - Answer the questions at the end of the article.
Tuesday - A second close read and oral "annotation" of "Shoulders."
A review of writing strategies. If you are absent, check the outbox for handouts.
Wednesday - Friday - Begin writing a 2-3 paragraph response based on the text "Shoulders" by Nels Gould. You should identify the central idea of the text, and choose writing strategy (literary element or literary technique or rhetorical device) the author uses to develop this central idea. Examples may be: characterization, conflict, diction (denotation/connotation), metaphor, simile, point of view, structure, symbolism, theme, etc. USE SPECIFIC EVIDENCE FROM THE TEXT to develop your response.
